Poetry Corner

I can't for the life of me figure out
how I let you get under my skin,
deep within,
dreaming of you constantly,
was it your nice smell, or the aura that drove me wild,
perhaps your powerful hairstyle,
the butterflies in my stomach seemed to turn when you weren't there,
my heart yearning your touch and presence,
the sweetness and succulent essence,
the beauty of your spirit creating waves,
like ice cream, it was you I craved,
our kinship was a blessing on a higher power,
I reflect on our kiss,
that was pure bliss,
It was more than romance,
girl, you had this brotha in a trance,
I'm a firm believer that it wasn't by happenstance,
too bad you didn't agree,
tossed me out like a flea,
I picked up my sorrow and pain,
wasn't no tears or singing in the rain,
I sat by the phone waiting on you to dial those seven digits,
but one day I was just like forget it,
no more mocha delight chocolate enchanting osculations,
just left with a tattered palate without justification,
I bid you farewell my dear,
It was probably best we dichotomized,
our pertinence allowed me to realize,
that love is easier to give than to receive

Are New Year's Resolutions Really Necessary & Can You Keep Them?

1) New Year's Resolutions - I have never really made them and when I did make them I never kept them, so I say that they mean nothing. It is kind of fun to do like eating fried chicken with hot sauce or walkin it out, but as far as a ritual, I'd much rather prefer not to make them. Most of the time people do not keep them because their mind has not yet caught on to their resolution. It is a matter of will power most of the time because people make resolutions concerning addictions and bad habits, most of the time. I am not a fan of them because you have to make a decision in your will to stop doing something before you can do it and most of the time people make resolutions just to do them.

2) Saddam Is Going To Die - It is official. He will die within 30 days. They're gonna hang em. I mean I have no real feelings regarding this except, that he murdered all of those people and has no remorse for it. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction (one of Newton's Laws), so he in one form of fashion will meet his end due to his actions. I do not condone murder, never have and never will. They need to find Bush's other cronie(hopefully, that is spelled right) and sentence him and then bring them troops home.

A Little Less Conversation, A Lil Mo Action

1) Mo' Murda - It's pretty darn sad that there is not much being done about the brotha that was gunned down in NY by the police. They claim he was armed by according to Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson, who are fighting against the most likely racially motivated death, the man wasn't armed and why would you kill an innocent brotha on his wedding day no less? This is yet another senseless death perpetuated by the white man and there is not much we can do about it. I applaud Jackson and Sharpton for stepping up the plate. I wonder what would be happening if the shoe was on the other foot? CBS, NBC, Fox, The CW and that My-Network would have had crowd discussions and debates if that had been a Caucasian dude. You know I'm right.

2) Ritchie Gone Crazy - Okay......so Nicole Ritchie decides to park her car in the opposite direction in the midst of traffic on the freeway in Cali, and at night. Was that a cry for attention or was homegirl trying to end her life? That is just another example of how money doesn't buy happiness.

3) HU Goes Hip Hop - Howard University is going to start offering hip hop courses. Hmm. Por Que? I do like hip hop and have traditionally appreciated it, but I am wondering what was the motivation behind it. I think when we as a people do things like that we perpetuate stereotypes as far as immortalizing the gangsta thug image and the Kristall/Hypnotiq/Bling lifestyle. Perhaps I am the only 1 who feels this way.....but I suppose it may do our peeps some good to learn the life. After all, that's what we need in the world....right?

Stop The Madness

I came across a few videos, both courtesy of my cousin. The first is Fry That Chicken...you gotta hear it.

This is probably the most hilarious, ignorant piece of stuff I've heard. They need to make one on chittlins, hogmaw, tripe and pickled pig feet.

and then there was this one....
P Unit's TeaParty. Funny as hell. A song about a tea party. Narly dude! Cowabunga.....again I ask where do people come up with this hogwash. Pure poppycock. What will peeps come up with next?

Nothing Like The Truth, or At Least The Truth From My Perspective

1) Christmas is Just A Few, Few...Few Days Away - I have always enjoyed the Xmas holidays. A time to sit down and gobble down some turkey, wait that's thanksgiving. I meant ham. Yep swine, smothered in brown sugar glaze. MMMM....I usually have a few pieces along with greens, potato salad and slab of my grandmother's lemon cream cheese pie. But Xmas is more than just about filling your stomach. It's about the one and only son of God, Jesus Christ. I am surprised there is not much discussion about the whole Happy Holidays thing versus Merry Christmas. This world is full of it. I understand that everyone has their own religion and their own god(s), but that has nothing to do with saying Merry Christmas. I have always associated Christmas with Jesus Christ, of course, the media would like you to think of it as a day to lay out Oreos or Mrs. Field's Sugar Cookies and a glass of Alta Dena or some fat dude in a suit with a white beard, but I got news 4 ya. Christmas is the season to celebrate the birth of HIM who came to save that which is lost and restore us back to the Father. Presents are wonderful, the tree is spiffy but let us not forget what this holiday is about.

2) No More Iraq? - Is Bush pulling the troops out? Nope. Not anytime soon, just ask Condi Rice, his spokesperson. I mean come on Presi, our troops are dying everyday and it just ain't right. And 4 awhile he was trying to get involved in worldly affairs - ha that's a laugh. Let's run America. That is enough to do by itself. It looks like troops won't be out until sometime in 08. Let's see if that forecast is right.

3) BBarker Retiring - The come on down guy is retiring. Yep. Mr. Barker is giving up his Price Is Right gig after many many years. Was there another guy who did it? I don't know, and I don't think anyone remembers if there was. I wonder who they'll get to take his place. Or maybe CBS will be able to get the man to go on for a few more years.

4) A Seinfeld Remark Gone Too Far - Well apparently, the dude from Seinfeld, whatever his name is, has stopped apologizing for his rude and racist remarks at a comedy club. I am surprised the people were so civilized when he made those comments. I'm all for peace. But wrong is just wrong. There are no 2 ways about it. He was wrong. And I don't know if his public apology was so good either. What's done is done. Poor guy. But I have a feeling we would have heard more about it had that been John Witherspoon or Lavelle Crawford up there.

Ps. Check out the new Jet... Ciara is on the front.

.......

1) HU Is A Distant Memory....-How is it that December has made it here already? I have been out of college 4 a year and it feels like I just left the place yesterday. Naw, not really, in fact, I actually missed HU a lil earlier this year but now I'm kinda like eh....I'll rep it til I leave this green earth but I have moved on 2 bigger and better things. I still talk 2 a few peeps but I parted ways wit many. I felt so odd about that whole debacle (which was partly my decisione) that I decided to include that bullS**t in mi libro, as if the world needs to read my dirty laundry and sorted tales. I think it'll get good critiques though, hopefully.

2) Hip Hop Music - I am contemplating giving up hip hop music. How can you, you ask? Cause it's lethal to the new me. I have had it up 2 here wit stupid rhymes and beats. I am even sick of havin some songs on my computer/iPod. BTW my Ipod is finally losing steam. It is dyin on me. I've had since sophomore year. Yup it's that old school ipod. I'ma have 2 bury it. I might let my cuz go psyko on it after I move all the songs off of it. He seems real hype about it. Something about a hammer.

3) DreamGirls & Pursuit of Happyness - I think it's Oscar worthy, just by the previews. I saw Beyonce on Oprah wit Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy and Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose. Beyonce did a good performance on there and looked good too. I haven't seen any previews of The Pursuit of Happyness but I know it'll be good too. They are saying Will Smith might get a nod from the Academy. We'll c.
