A Little Bit Different

I always thought it could happen. I always believed it would happen and now it has. America has elected Obama to be the next President. Over the last two years, we have gotten a glimpse of how Obama will be as President. I suspect that he will govern center-left as President Clinton did given the fact that Newsweek found that we are a center-right country that favors tax cuts and little government involvement. Also, many conservatives think Obama is just a masquerading socialist with radical views that he will instill into the minds of us.

Obama will not govern this way. He will be measured, diplomatic and cool with his approach. I se him being tough when need be and being very tactful when need be. This is the embodiment of what a President should be. Not too hot and not too cool. I expect Obama to fulfill his tax cut plan and his embrace of universal healthcare. With so many Americans uninsured, Obama struck the right cord with healthcare plan.

I just cannot believe it. President Obama. Who would have thought? Well, I never doubted. Who would have thought America would turn to a Black man to pull itself out of the ditch. While we are a country who sees race, somehow, today feels a little different than say a few days ago. I don't know why. But it does. And America should be damn proud of itself for making history. Then again, we make history all the time and will continue to do so.

Something to Smile About

It's finally here. Grab a bag of popcorn and a glass of soda - and get ready for one of the most inspiring nights ever in history. Truly inspiring and exciting. I feel proud that an African American has a chance of taking the keys to the White House. And while many may not like it - he has proven to America that he is tough as nails not just with his oratorical skill, but with his ability to outsmart his opponents and keep a calm and collected temperament.

A high five is due here. To the many who (myself, included) who helped Obama get here. Let's hope and pray that he wins. I think he will. But if he doesn't, change has still happened. And that's something to smile about.
