In Other News

So I haven't written anything in the past few weeks. Haven't had the time really, and with the nominal hits to my website, I felt as though I could wait to write something. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately about life. I feel like I am in a standstill, where nothing is happening. It would seem as though I am still in transition. I kinda wondered if I am alone in feeling this way. I am happy, just not satisfied. I thought about entering to appear on Def Poetry, whenever that comes back. I've got many poems to share. Perhaps it's just winter. Maybe the weather really does affect your mood.
In other news, nods to Jennifer Hudson, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy and Forest Whittaker for getting nominations for the Oscars. I hope Hudson and Murphy win. I haven't seen The Last King of Scotland, so I cannot judge on Whittaker's performance, but I have seen The Pursuit of Happyness, and Will Smith did an excellent job. I haven't been keeping up on the music scene lately....been kinda listening to music other than Hip Hop. I do like Common's "A Dream" and Omarion's "Ice Box," but as far as all this other garbage that is being spewed out on radio nowadays, I am ecstatic that I made the decision to get Sirius and have an Ipod, which is still running. Yep the 2nd Generation thing is still running. I've grown an appreciation for CSI Miami and New York and wasn't impressed with Dirt. I like Courtney Cox, but the storyline was a little trite. I found myself flipping through the channels during the show. I had more fun watching the Weather Channel than that. No offense to those of you out there who've watched it. I was researching ways to make money online and found it and have been making a decent profit, which is good.
In other news, Congress is finally waking up to Bush's foolishness. It was a long time comin - hopefully they do not approve of his sending more troops to fight a war that is pointless. He didn't get many Democratic standing ovations when he delivered his State of The Union. Poor George. In closing, I refer to Steve Coleman's poem, "....the terrorists call themselves George, Dick and Rudy, so the next time you see one kick him in his booty, it's not only your right as an American, but your patriotic duty."

Communication in A Paragraph

Communication is key to life. It is what ignites us all and gives each and every one of us a voice to speak our mind. It is an attitude. A disposition. We are to express our viewpoints openly and honestly among each other, but ever so often; that never occurs. We stand boxed in, enveloped into an abyss of numbness and silence. Thoughts spin around in our heads and we cannot seem to get the words out, but there is much feeling present. No one says what they really want to say. The jargon is perfected with sugar on the tongue as the letters flow off into the air. Very few have boldness and zeal to freely speak in fear of judgment and ridicule, realizing that we are each distinct, yet so much alike, unified and dignified. Scattered across in a world void of humility, honesty, love, and unity, just angst, anger, and rage. Many trying to understand the meaning of life and existence. We seek to find our destiny in the distance, wishing and hoping the possibilities are endless. Yet, so many truly find their treasure which is locked inside. A profound sound that would resonate any place, but left unsaid. Communication is key to life, however, our fear tears us down before we utter and the mouth thinks twice.

Poetry Corner

Let me spit some divine knowledge,
didn't learn it in elementary school or college,
God stepped in front of me about two years ago,
been fixing my life flow,
showing me revelation in the scriptures,
with visions and pictures,
listening to Jakes, Price and holy Hip Hop,
puttin the devil to a stop,
getting involved in kingdom business,
educating the twisted, agnostic and the helpless,
on a mission to be a doer of the Word,
haven't you heard,
get on board with Jesus the Christ,
he'll not only save you but change your entire life
-KJ

I apologize
for being black
For all I am
Plus all I lack
Please, sir, please ma'am
Give me some slack
Cause I apologize

I apologize
For being poor
For being sick
And tired and sore
Since I ain't slick
Don't know the score
I must apologize

I apologize
Because I bear
Resemblance mos'
Black people share
Thick lips, flat nose
And nappy hair
So I apologize

I apologize
For how I look
For all the lows
And blows I took
On those, Lord knows
I'd close the book
As I apologize

I apologize
For all I gave
For letting you
Make me your slave
And going to
My early grave
I do apologize

I apologize
For all I've done
For all my toil
Out in the sun
Don't want to spoil
Your righteous fun
So I apologize
I apologize

For being caught
For being sold
For being bought
While being told
I count for naught

I apologize
And curse my kind
For being fooled
For being blind
For being ruled
And in your bind
Why not apologize

I apologize
And curse my fate
For being slow
For being late
Because I know
It's me you hate
I must apologize

I apologize
And tip my hat
'Cause you're so rich
And free, and fat
Son of a bitch
That's where it's at
And I APOLOGIZE
