Step Out of The Grip

Brothers and sisters it is time for a change. A magnitude of change is necessary because the world is enterting into a downward spiral of choas and destruction. Whether it's the war in the Iraq or the economy, we are headed to a place that is unlike anything we have seen before. We need to really get it together. So put down the margarita and the Black & Mild, stop sleeping with every Jim, Jane, and Johnny and wake up and smell the pipin hot Yuban. Everyday people are overlooked, shaken down and oppressed and we sit back and watch the homeless people on the streets begging for money and yet we do nothing. We think because they are not on their level that they do no deserve to be fed or clothed. They are humans too you know. I asked myself this question and you should too, would you want someone to give you food or money if you were homeless? Many of us envision ourselves as propserous people yet we are nothing but scoundrels who will walk over anything and anybody just to gain this status; this wonderous walk of life where everyone respects us. We prounce around like elephants roaming the land called America, more specifically DC like we own the place. As if we built DC. We seem to act as if we are perfect as we bask in our own glorious existence cursing and shuffling around doing all sorts of things such as drinking, having sex and other mumbo jumbo. I find it contradictory when people try and justify their own indiscretions with "that's just the way I am" or "you're one to talk." That is nothing but guilt with sugarcoating. Giving me a candied response is not something that I need. I could care less about your own justifications. People think that they are hot stuff they really do, as if they are the only ones who stand on this Earth. I find it hard to believe that some of my friends think that they are going somewhere but yet have this slim desire to acehieve their goals. This massaged if you will, cloudy dream that getting by is okay. They will spend thousands on clothes and shoes, liquor and their appearance, yet do not devote the time to their school work and to things that will get them somewhere. Why should it matter if you have on a Lacoste polo or a D&G jacket? Yes, it may look good but what good will it do you if you are struggling to survive after graduation hoping for that in, that six figure job. They are living in a fantasy land. I should call Milton Bradley and tell them to incorporate their characters into the Candyland game. And then we have these people who will sleep with anything that walks and talks, scuffles and shuffles into the Towers. They parade around like righteous people yet behind closed doors suck on anything and lick on anything. It is a shame when people are so bent on satisfying their desires that they will risk the breakage of a condom to have that 4 minute satisfaction. The oohs and ahhs can't save you from burning piss or crabs (and I'm not talking about ones you butter up at Red Lobster here). You may be laughing but ask yourself a question, how often do you have random sex? You may find the answer to be quite shocking, specifically because you have a burning desire or achievement to violate yourself. How many times have you had sex with someone you really loved? Isn't sex supposed to be someone you love? Not some random joker, jester or ho roaming the abyss aka this place. Now onto the liquor lovers. I call them liquor lovers because they feel that they have to empty bottles to have a party. Drowning your problems into a bottle of Captain Morgan or Bacardi doesn't get you anywhere and it certainly can cause liver & kidney damage. The body begins to function like an elevator: going up and down. All of the nights spent over the toilet and the hangovers should tell you something, but it doesn't, instead you can't wait to do body shots or have celebrations that involve some sort of what I like to call truth serum. When do you say, let me put that down? It becomes a ritual or ceremony even to consume liquor. It invades the mind and destroys the brain cells. Now for those of you who want success but are not willing to work with or think it should be handed to you or have this false notion that you are on some kind of HIGHER level. I am shocked at the people who walk around here like they are Kings & Queens. It is time to get down off that throne and get down to business. Start taking life by the throat and going after something with correct thinking. Stop thinking everything should be a cakewalk or twitching your nose and it magically happening. Mediocrity is not up to par and will get you nowhere. Yes, experience does matter but grades do too. I constantly hear people's aspirations, but I often wonder are they doing enough to get those aspirations. It is just interesting to me how Black people especially can think they can just get by, do they not know that the world will scrutinize them even harder simply by the color of their skin. We are still, even in the 21st century locked into this pit of racism, so get off that high horse and get down to business. It is time for people to start respecting each other more. There is no love for others anymore. People walk by you everyday. We are all sisters and brothers yet we act like others have incurable illnesses that can spread. Why is there love for others? Aren't we all the same breed of people? Yes, we come from different backgrounds but if we trace our history, we's all Black. I think it's sad because people do not know who they are, really, they don't. No really, they don't because if you really knew who you are you would stop pussyfootin around and dig in deep and attain those goals of yours. Your mind would not be on that trip to the mall or on who is dating who. I am by no means perfect, but I am working on changing my priorities and I see the world through a set of different eyes. I have finally woke up. I find it mind-boggling that people have not yet smelled the coffee and it is pipin hot...do you care to have a taste? I urge you to step out of the grip of Satan and change. Loose his grip on your life!! Brothers and sisters it is time and there has never been such a time as this.
