A Quick Post

1) Once Again - John Legend's cd is good. The brother has much talent. It is up there with his first release. Many say that he is leaning more towards hip-hop than r&b with this one, but I think the overall sound of Once Again is his style. There aren't many r&b cats out there who can sing like he can. Highlights include: Heaven, Again, Where Did My Baby Go & Maxine. Go out and support John by purchasing a copy....not bootlegging.

2) STL Victory - The Cards won tonight. Yeah! I thought they would because they didn't want to fly back to that cold weather up in Detroit. Who would? I mean STL is cold now, but it's snowing in Detroit. Get down Cardinals. It just proves that with tenacity and an overwhelming zeal that one can do anything and how you can come back when many have counted you out. People didn't even expect them to get to the World Series, but look at em now.

3) Ignorant Songs - I am convinced that the rap world just doesn't know what to make. The other day, my cousin, decided to play me a song called Bathing Apes. What the??? How ignorant can hip hop get? Let's come up with some quality lyrics besides I got me some bathin apes. And laying a beat over garbage just makes it garbage + garbage, which = garbage x 2. Another ignorant song is Chicken Noodle Soup.....ha....I wonder if Campbell's or Progresso is getting some dough from Webstar. Not to mention Zoom by Lil Boosie. Junk....and what is even more ignant is that people call and request these songs. And they take the time to learn the lyrics but we can't take the time to devote to things like voting.

Life has many parts, I got me some, do you?

3 Things

1) Obama 4 Prez - I think it's a good idea. I would vote for him over Bush's brother. I would also like to see Mrs. Clinton run in '08, but personally this country isn't ready for a woman to run it. We still have stinking thinking about women and their place in the world. We've upheld our conservative viewpoint on women and what they can do or should be allowed to do. I think Obama despite the fact that he's African American has the ability to win, but we'll see. But then again, many people are oblivious to who they elect. I mean Cali voted in The Terminator and an actor was President.

2) Why Did They Cancel Soul Food? - Soul Food is off the air but I wonder why they cancelled it. Showtime didn't want to uphold a quality drama show. Why do they cancel so many good Black shows or put them on days or at times where no one will watch them. I am glad they put "Everybody Hates Chris" on Mondays, that is better than Sunday @ 7. I think there was a petition to bring it back but no network wanted to pick it up. That's a shame. They should put it on DVD at least. The 1st season is on DVD but what about the other seasons.

3) The Breaking of Curses: An Insightful Book - Although this book was written many years ago, Frank Hammond takes on the subject of curses. He is a well known delieverance minister. The book discusses everything from how curses come from ancestors, how curses come through occult and witchcraft, how to break curses, why it is essential for every person to examine if they have a curse, how to stay free of curses. I have it on my recommended reading list. This book exposes many common things in the world that can bring on curses.

Poetry Corner

It's been awhile...but here it goes.

Let Me Ask U A ?
Why are so many Black men being misdirected,
neglected, misunderstood, formin gangs and clicks,
ain't no mo brotherhood, just men who like the word
nigga, I figure
don't mind workin minimum wage,
feedin off the media like rats in a cage,
want them dollar bills and fame,
ain't nuttin really changed,
still the same ol' game just with new sambo names,
sistas gettin plastic surgery to correct their skin,
not realizin the beauty they possess within,
a no name race that the world thinks just takes up space,
Black peeps wear bling bling rings and necklaces,
hidin behind low self-esteem masks and inferiority complexes,
booty shakin in da club,
man I heard a fool was savin up money so his car could roll on dubs,
these are the Black men and women society calls duds,
sellouts and slaves,
is our race a zoo?,
we don't need to be tamed,
call me observant, harsh, riotous or real,
i had to send this one out to my peeps,
i guess i need to go make some Maxwell House coffee,
cause we'z still asleep

I am the man they call Uncle Sam,
I cop all the glitz and glam,
got damn I been takin your money for years,
preyin on your fears,
I works for the gubment in DC,
whenever you around the neighborhood,
why don't you come and kick it wit me?
let me show you how i brainwash and manipulate,
come up with new laws, higher taxes and bills,
don't worry about Medicaid and Social Security,
that's goin out the door just like the birth control pill,
and no we can't have stem cell research might find a cure,
heaven forbid can't nobody be pure,
that be too much like right,
then there'd b no reason 2 fight,
but instead I jack up oil prices and stop you from makin a buck, but
hey, don't worry I'm Uncle Sam,
I rob Americans and don't give a fuck,
it's just my luck,
I'm pretty slick,
got street smarts and tricks,
I am the one they call Uncle Sam,
laughing and hee-hawing as you proclaim how I don't understand,
tellin me why you need reparations and apologies,
I love to bring those beneath me to their knees,
You can pretty much say I have a Napoleon complex just hide it with a smirk and a smile,
but stay around while,
and you'll be hooked on my wiles and phony styles,
just remember as you pick up that welfare check,
yeah you know the one you got after workin a low payin job, darn near breakin your neck,
with the leftovers, I can add to my house a gazebo or a pool deck,
I'm Uncle Sam,
plundering this world into total chaos,
but who cares cause I'm the BOSS.

The Mind Doesn't Work That Way, Unfortunately

There are these things that have to be broken. They have to be permanently cut. I have found that in order to move forward in life from hurt and pain you have to break those memories that seem not to want to leave. Many times we find ourselves dealing with things that we'd thought we were over but something happens that brings those things to the surface of our minds. I asked myself how does this happen? Why is it that after a period of time what you thought you had moved past, seems to weigh so heavily on your mind, or you get flashes of it? It is like the hurt and pain is gone but there are internal scars that refuse to heal. What is even more painful is that the good times outweigh the bad and you ponder at how things got that way? To the point that the relationship is over, the frienship has dissolved, the person is no longer apart of your life, yet you have a tie to them that has not been cut. How do you cut that line? Was there some unfinished business between you and them that needs to be settled? Is this some root of unforgiveness lurking within you? I asked myself as flashbacks came to my mind the other night. I am trying to move on, but something just won't let me move on. Why is it you forget what you ought to remember and your mind feeds on the stuff you should forget? Fall or autumn as some call it, always seems to usher in some kind of reflections in me. Good and bad reflections. There are some things that I always say I could have done differently, but you cannot rewrite the past, just write the future. I wish you could just snap your fingers and remove all of the memories of the past. But the mind doesn't work that way....

Interesting Songs

There are some songs that just kind of make you scratch your head and think...what were the artists thinking when they made this???

Here are a few....

1) Edwin Starr - Agent Double O Soul
-Yep.

2) B52s - Rock Lobster
-Here's a big hit, yet very very corny.

3) Men At Work - Land Down Under
-Another 80s hit. Huge hit, but again interesting.

4) Blessed Union of Souls - She Likes Me For Me
-Popular song in the late 90s. The dude is singing about how this girl likes him for him, but the things he talks about that she doesn't care about....

5) James Brown - Payback
-The end....what does revenge have to do with him eating collard greens and smothered steak?

6) Yung Joc - I Know You See It
-I liked "It's Going Down," however, this one is ignorant.

7) Fergie - Fergalicious
-4, tres, 2, uno. That's creativity. The beat is good and I'm not hatin on Fergie cause she isn't bad looking but the lyrics are bad.

8) Gilette - Mr. Personality
-Ha, another 90s hit.....do females really think guys look like that?

9) Outkast - Morris Brown
-Too much going on in a song. Hot like the perm on the back on the back of your neck, lef it in too long now you got cabbage patch....but Outkast is still wats up.

10) LFO - Summer Girls
-New kids on the block had a bunch of hits, chinese food kinda makes me sick....
